What is a Cat Show Like?
Each cat is assigned a number. When the cat's number is placed on top of one of the cages behind a judging table, the cat's handler takes the cat to that cage. The judge then takes each cat from its cage and places it on the judging table, where it will be judged against the written standard for its breed and compared against all other cats of the same breed entered in the same judging class. In all-breed rings, the cats will then be judged against all other cats of all breeds entered in the same judging class, with the top 5-10 selected for the judge's "final". In a "specialty" ring, the cats will be judged against all other long-haired OR short-haired breeds entered in the same judging class, and awarded a final accordingly.
